Why I say Yes to the EU: Michael Sadgrove

I am the child of a German Jewish refugee who came to Britain in 1939 to escape the Nazis. Since an early age I have had a strong sense of myself as “European”, as well as British. The EU is not perfect but it has given us peace and security in our continent since the war.

As a Christian, I believe that life is meant to be lived not in isolation as peoples but in partnerships and community, and only this commitment to the common good will enable us to grapple with the global crises we face. It is about the Judaeo-Christian principle that we must love our neighbour. To walk away from this family of nations would be a catastrophic political, moral and spiritual mistake.

See  @Xians4EU, a group I launched when the referendum was announced, for more on the case for remaining in the EU.
